The electronics for the dobby were initially based on Automatypewriter and had to use more power than Arduino could supply to power the solenoids as in the schematic. The Solenoids used (sadly no longer manufactured) had to push about 10mm to fit the louet magic dobby. Lcd used I added a bluetooth reciever to the Arduino (but this could be done over the USB cable) to listen to the computer using processing. I recently replaced the electronics attached to the arduino with a 32 channel N-MOSFET board which makes setting everything up much easier.
